Rookwood Hospital

A message tree for rehabilitation use.

Commissioned by Cardiff and Vale Health Board to design and fabricate a 6ft tree to be used in Rookwood Hospital, a rehabilitation hospital situated in Llandaff, Cardiff.

Using the same design as previously used for the Our Orchard project at University Hospital Llandough, I created a similar tree, however, this time without any apples.

The apples on the last tree represented a fundraising system whereby every time a certain amount of money was raised an apple would get added to the tree. This tree instead of apples will have thirty small hooks where patients of Rookwood Hospital can attach messages to the tree, which can help patients to speak out and encourages them to share their thoughts and feelings.
